The 2009 season for Peter was not as successful as hoped. The highlights were playing in The Irish Senior Open at Ballybunion but a poor 2nd round pushed him into the middle of the field. Third place in a challenge tour event in Waterford helped and some high finishes in Irish PGA events kept his season alive. Peter qualified for the Senior British Open at Sunningdale but poor draw times saw his challange falter with bad weather and long rain delays which saw a return to the course early on the 3rd day to finish the last 4 holes. Peter needed 3 birdies in the final 4 to make the cut but in attacking dropped shots at 16 & 18 to miss by 4 shots.

The Champions Tour Q school in November was a mixed bag. In the 1st Stage Peter Shot -4 for 4 rounds to finish 6th from 78 players and move onto the finals in Arizona. The Scotsdale course in Phoenix was a difficult challenge and poor putting saw Peter open with rounds on 72 & 75. A 3rd round of 68 renewed hope but a poor start in the final round of 72 saw him finish in the middle of the field and miss his players' card. 

After a break in December and January, Peter finished 4th in a 2 day Pro am in Lisbon, Portugal with a -2 total and after some hard practise and road work to increase stamina, Peter is ready for the 2010 season.
